As the HO designation indicates, these slot cars grew out of the fascination with HO trains. Scaled at 1/64 of the original model, HO cars began as die-cast models and are now available in a wider variety of body materials. HOs recommend themselves to beginning racers because of size; a basement ping-pong table or a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood offers plenty of room for a complex and challenging HO track setup. Track sets can be found that are small enough to set up and take down easily on a family-room or even bedroom floor. Small does not mean slow or dull; HO cars race at high speeds, and manufacturers put great effort into authentic body detail. A great way to start racing--and a great way to keep going!
